Black Ecologies Gathering: Tappahannock, VA (2023)

The Black Ecologies Gathering in Tappahannock, Virginia, hosted by Just Harvest, a Black and Indigenous-led food justice organization rooted in the Tidewater region of Virginia. This gathering united a diverse group of participants, including local educators, scholars, farmers, food justice activists, artists, dancers, filmmakers, and community members for a day of engagement at sites of Indigenous and Black historical significance tied to place, ecology, and collective memory. The day culminated in a three-hour public-facing Food Justice Symposium and Art Gallery. It marked the digital launch of the Black Ecologies Zine.
